In accordance with the invitation of the Ministry of transport, post and telecommunications of the Slovak Republic and ZSSK Cargo the 19th Plenary meeting of the international association “Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation” (CCTT) will take place in Bratislava on September 29-30, 2010 (Crowne Plaza Hotel). The event will host more than 250 delegates of the CCTT as well as other participants from 23 countries: the heads of European, Asian, Russian, CIS and Baltic railway administrations, ports of Russia, China, Germany, Estonia, Norway and Sweden, shipping companies, international transport organizations: UIC, OSJD, national and international associations of freight forwarders, Federal tariff service of Russia, Ministry of regional development of Russia, Integration Committee of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurasEC), as well as representatives of regional and municipal administrations. The meeting will be focused on the main aspects the functioning of the Transsiberian transport corridor, the measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of container transportation between Europe, Baltic states, Central Asia and Asia-Pacific using the Transsiberian mainline under new economic conditions, as well as harmonizing international cargo documentation procedures and innovation-based technologies of international transit transportation of cargo in containers using the Transsiberian route (TSR). The agenda of the meeting also includes the presentation of results of the pre-feasibility study for broad-gauge railway connection between Košice and Vienna performed by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. The presentation of the project at the CCTT Plenary meeting will show cargo owners the effectiveness of partial switching of the cargo flows to the railways, provide an additional impulse for potential investors to participate in the project of extending the broad-gauge railway track to Central Europe through the territory of the Slovak Republic, and contribute to the development of combined transports via the Dobra terminal. Within the 19th Plenary meeting of CCTT the UIC Global Team of Experts meeting is arranged on September 30, 2010 where the main problems of development of East-West international transport corridor will be considered. The decisions that will be taken at the 19th Plenary meeting of the CCTT will provide the basis for further improvement of Transsiberian transportation, development of the TSR as an international transport corridor and for attracting additional transit and bilateral cargo volumes to the Transsiberian route.
